Oh, the Downside of Travel

We had a delightful lunch at the Glucksman Gallery on the University College at Cork campus.  Zach and Ben played frisbee on the lawn outside the café.  When leaving, we discovered that we had parked illegally.  Unbeknownst to us, there were laws that required the purchase of parking discs (what the heck are those?) that must be displayed in your front window.  The sign said maximum parking two hours.  So we thought we were in good shape.  Alas, the City Council of Cork has quite a racket going that fines “illegal” parking at over $100 per fine.  We actually tried to pay the fine so we could be on our way, but our debit card company thought it was too suspicious to approve (?!), so when we had no easy way to pay their fine, they finally let us go!

  1. Too bad I wasn’t with you….We’d be negotiating….still. But oh the tales we could tell.

As you were set free of your fine- the RotoRooer man was not so generous but pipes are root free! And 2 inches of water downstairs is all gone :). Look forward to hearing more on your way home.
